Zimba Town Council, through the Department of Planning, is currently conducting an extensive sensitization programme on the revised Cash for Work initiative set to be implemented this year.
The team of officers has been engaging Ward Development Committees, traditional leaders, and councillors, emphasizing the importance of identifying community projects that will stand the test of time and deliver lasting benefits.
The revised Cash for Work programme introduces several changes from the initial phase. Notably, payments for beneficiaries will now be processed centrally to enhance efficiency and accountability.
The programme will run for a period of six (6) months, during which beneficiaries will be expected to undertake tangible and impactful community works.
Participants will continue to work for 8 hours per day over a period of 10 days, earning K60 per day, totaling K600 per beneficiary.
Recruitment of beneficiaries will now be conducted by the Council on a first-come, first-served basis across all zones. This process will be facilitated by the recently recruited data entry clerks.
Members of the community are therefore encouraged to identify and propose projects that will have a lasting impact, in line with the objectives of the cash for work in the district.
